CMA CGM, a leading global shipping company, has announced the implementation of a Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS) in Walvis Bay, Namibia, effective February 1, 2025. The surcharge will remain in place until further notice, with the exception of shipments between Namibia and the United States, Latin America, and Australia, where the surcharge will take effect on February 25.
The PCS is being introduced to address the ongoing congestion at the Port of Walvis Bay, which has significantly impacted shipping operations and schedules. The surcharge will apply to all types of cargo, with rates set at US$250, €250, or GB£205 per TEU for shipments destined for Walvis Bay, and US$100 or €100 per TEU for shipments originating from Walvis Bay.
This measure aims to mitigate the financial impact of port delays and ensure smoother operations for shippers and consignees. For more information or assistance with your shipping needs, please contact our sales representatives at +86-13534256328.
