COSCO Launches WSA5 Route in Ecuador, Shortening Voyage Time

On February 21, 2025, COSCO Shipping Lines announced the launch of its WSA5 route in Ecuador, one of two main lines serving the Port of Callao. The new route reduces voyage time between China and Ecuador to 31 days outbound and 28 days inbound, enhancing shipping efficiency and connectivity.

The WSA5 route leverages the strategic location of the Port of Callao, offering shorter and more cost-effective shipping options. It marks a significant step in the construction of the new Asia-Latin America land-sea corridor, opening up broader trade opportunities for China, Ecuador, and Latin America.

During the launch, a COSCO vessel delivered a range of products to Ecuador and brought back fresh produce, marking the beginning of a new chapter in trade between China and Ecuador. COSCO is committed to providing customized services and digital supply chain management on the WSA5 route.
